Pennies by the Sea 2017

 

 

Saturday 22 July

We hope you will join us on a special trip back through time for Pennies by the Sea. Set in the beautiful Sandgate village and foreshore there will be old fashioned games, entertainment and of course the big wheels. This year is extra special with the 200 year anniversary of the bicycle. Bicycle Queensland will be attending with a very special replica of a 200 year old bike.

Events are free to watch.

12.30pm: Vintage Bicycles and Tricycles 19th Century High Tea riding at Einbunpin Bramble Place Coffee Shop (cost $29.5 per person high tea)

2pm-4pm : Old English Dancing (Einbunpin Lagoon) old fashioned children’s games, historical bicycle display, Bicycle Queensland stall with a 1817 bicycle and old English dancing to entertain the young and young at heart and the opportunity to sit on a penny for a gold coin donation.

2.30pm: Penny Farthing Turtle Ride (Einbunpin Lagoon)

3pm: Penny Farthing Stack (Einbunpin Lagoon)

6.30pm: Annual dinner at Bramble Place Coffee Shop with Guest speaker Stephen Nutt a fellow member and bicycle collector who will be keeping us enthralled with a discussion on bicycles.  Including a memorabilia auction. ($30 per person includes platters entree and mains and individual desserts).

If you wish to attend please RSVP using our form below. Some events have strict cut off dates for attendance. It is helpful if you are thinking of coming to let us know for catering and logistics but you can just turn up to on the day. Also don’t forget to consider becoming a member or make sure your membership is up to date, we can’t survive and run events without your support (we have an online form for your details).

1. Queensland Penny Farthing Championships (Nundah Criterium Track) - 8am for 8.20am race (QPFAHCC Club membership required to participate in Championship not confirmed until numbers known)

2. Vintage Bicycles and Tricycles 19th Century High Tea (Einbunpin Lagoon, Bramble Place Tea and Coffee right at the roundabout) ($29.5 per person) - 12.30pm meet for 12.45pm-2pm. RSVP required by Friday 7 July 2017 (14 people maximum)

3. Penny Farthing Turtle Ride (Einbunpin Lagoon, Sandgate) - 2.30pm

4. Penny stack (Einbunpin Lagoon, Sandgate) - 2.45pm for 3pm stack

5. Tweed Ride (Einbunpin Lagoon, Sandgate) - 1.45pm for 2pm ride on Saturday 15 July (Gold coin donation to the Sandgate Men's Shed.)

6. Club dinner at Bramble Place Tea and Coffee - 6.30pm ($30 per person)
Total number of people attending the dinner (e.g. including rider and non-riding friends/partners).

Please indicate any dietary requirements for you or any guests.

Sunday 23 July

7. Ride from Sandgate across the bridge venue to be confirmed - 7.45am for 8am ride participants pay their own meals

*Required for café staff/catering needs.
